508-TEU Deneb capsizes while loading Maersk containers at Algeciras

A 508-TEU German containership Deneb capsized at an Algeciras quay during the loading of Maersk containers.

The master and a sailor were injured, said London`s Containerisation International, adding the that ship flipped over to starboard and soon was half underwater at the quayside.


After the incident, AP Moller-Maersk`s towage and salvage company Svitzer has sent its mobile cranes to help remove containers. And a boom was placed afterwards to slow if not stop fuel leakage.
