American exports increase 1.3pc in April as imports decline 0.4pc

US EXPORT products and service growth was up 1.3 per cent to US$175.6 billion in April boosted by monthly export values with highs in industrial supplies at $43.4 billion and capital goods at $41 billion.

Imports dropped by 0.4 per cent to $219.2 billion decreasing the trade deficit by 6.7 per cent month on month to $43.7 billion in April.


Despite bumps on the road to recovery, April is the second consecutive month of record export growth, said US Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, reported American Shipper. "This administration is making our economy more competitive by fostering new jobs in new industries, and helping to educate and train workers to fill them," he said.
