STARTING in May, Cosco Container Lines and Evergreen will split their jointly operated service linking Asia with South Africa and the South American East Coast into two separate loops: the FAX and the ESA.
ESA will operate with 10 ships, four from Cosco and 10 from Evergreen - averaging 3,500 TEU in size, with ports of call to include Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Yantian, Singapore, Buenos Aires, Santos, and Montevideo, American Shipper reported.
The FAX service meanwhile will consist of an eight-vessel fleet, with an average capacity of 2,700 to 3,400 TEU per ship. Vessels assigned to FAX will make their stops in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen-Yantian, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, Cape Town and Durban.
