TransContainer posts quarterly profit after 2009 loss

RUSSIA`s TransContainer first quarter net profit came to RUB19.7 million (US$675,120) against a net loss of RUB11 million in the fourth quarter of 2009, according to an Interfax News Agency report.
The company attributed the profit to a reduction in spending and measures on pricing policy together with a revival of the container market.
TransContainer is Russia`s largest rail freight container operator with 60,000 ISO containers and more than 24,000 specialised flatcars, according to the company website. After JSC Russian Railways, the company is Russia`s second largest operator of rail-side container terminals, which are located at 47 railway stations.
The company has 140 offices located throughout Russia and offers forwarding and logistics services in neighbouring states via a network of representative offices and agent companies.
