SINGAPORE-based Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) has appointed former ExxonMobil (China) chairman Tan Puay Chiang and DBS institutional banking head Jeanette Wong to its board.
The appointees will take the seats of two of the four soon to retire directors - Boon Swan Foo, Tan Pheng Hock, Robert Holland Jr, and James Connal Scotland Rankin.
"This is a time of change for the board," NOL Group chairman Cheng Wai Keung said. "Four directors are departing, but we will gain the knowledge, skill and experience of new members who will help guide us to future success."
Mr Tan joined Mobil Oil in 1970. During his 37-year career with Mobil and later ExxonMobil, he held executive management roles in Australia, Singapore and the US. These included the positions of vice president for Mobil Research & Technology Corp, and chairman for Mobil Oil Australia. Tan was appointed general manager of corporate planning following the merger of Exxon and Mobil in 1999.
Ms Wong meanwhile joined DBS in 2003. Prior to her current role as group executive, she was responsible for overseeing corporate and investment banking, as well as enterprise banking and global transaction services. Ms. Wong was also the chief financial officer of DBS Group for five years. Before that, she spent 16 years with JP Morgan in Singapore.
