STAPLES, the world`s largest office products retailer, has granted DHL a 32,000 TEU-a-year contract to handle shipments from its export distribution centres (EDCs) in Shenzhen and Shanghai.
Under the contract, DHL will also provide a full range of third party logistics services, including inventory management, origin pre-distribution, packaging, labelling, consolidation, call off to market, generic ordering, and order right-sizing.
"This global contract reinforces our established partnership with Staples as we get even more entrenched in their supply chains," said DHL international supply chain head Phillip Chin. "An integrated and streamlined supply chain will deliver reduced costs, enhanced logistics efficiency and better speed-to-market for companies."
As a key corporate strategic initiative, Staples launched its EDCs in Shenzhen and Shanghai adjacent to their manufacturing base, in a move to streamline its international supply chain.
For the past five years, DHL has been providing logistics services for Staples` business in Europe and Asia.
