HONG Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has completed an over-night IT Disaster Recovery Drill involving 80 staff from the IT, operations and engineering departments to check procedures and timing as well as business continuity abilities of various departments.
The drill was set against the background of a total system failure of the Primary Computer Room (PCR) at SuperTerminal 1 that supposedly paralysed data networks connections. The recovery plan was then activated and the secondary computer room (SCR) provided immediate back up and recovery of systems, which ensured the provision of 24/7 services.
"As the world`s leading air cargo terminal operator, stability of the IT systems and the subsequent operational fallback are, as always, at the top of our business agenda," said Hactl IT chief Thomas Lee.
"By performing regular IT drills, we are well set to provide the most reliable and efficient cargo handling services," he said in a company statement.
