Singapore July volume rises 0.8pc to 2.57 million TEU, Shanghai up 5.1pc

THE Port of Singapore`s container volume in July increased 0.8 per cent year on year to 2.57 million TEU according to data provided by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Month-to-month, Singapore`s July throughput declined 1.2 per cent from June. Year to date, volume was down 4.3 per cent to 17.76 million TEU year on year.

Meanwhilem, the Port of Shanghai posted a 5.1 per cent year-on-year increase in July throughput to 3.27 million TEU.

The Shanghai International Port (Group) Co (SIPG) also announced July volumes increased 4.1 per cent more than the 3.14 million TEU posted in June. Year to date, Shanghai volume increased 0.09 per cent year on year to 21.16 million TEU.
