MOL to levy US$600/TEU Asia-southern Africa rate hike September 1

JAPANESE shipping giant MOL has announced it will levy a general rate increase (GRI) on all cargo moving from Asia to southern Africa, saying the "action is essential for us to sustain our service level".

Starting September 1, the GRI will be US$600 per TEU and $1,200 per FEU on cargo from Asia including Indian subcontinent and Middle East to southern Africa, including South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
