A-E rate falls 23.5pc to US$861/TEU, drops 13.8pc to Med ports

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to Northern Europe fell 23.5 per cent to US$861 per TEU in the week ending Friday, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI). 

The Asia-Mediterranean component of the SCFI dropped 13.8 per cent to US$865 per TEU, IHS Media reported. 

Asia to the US west coast off 3.4 per cent week-to-week to $1,277 per FEU while those to the east coast off 3.8 per cent to $1,884 per FEU.
