A-E rate falls 6.9pc to US$271/TEU, USWC off 9.3pc, USEC slips 4.8pc

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to Northern Europe fell 6.9 per cent to US$271 per TEU in the week ending Friday, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI), Reuters reported. 

The Asia-Med component of the SCFI dropped 6.6 per cent to US$409 per TEU. 

Shanghai to the US west coast declined 9.3 per cent to $770 per FEU as rates to the US east coast fell 4.8 per cent to $1,648 per FEU.
