A-E rate down 10.1pc US$231/TEU, Asia-Med off 11.3pc

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to Northern Europe fell 10.1 per cent to US$231 per TEU in the week ending Friday, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI). 

It was the eighth consecutive week of declines on the world`s busiest trade lane, according to Reuters. 

The Asia-Med component of the SCFI fell 11.3 per cent to US$236 per TEU. 

Shanghai to the US west coast declined 12 per cent to $884 per FEU as rates to the US east coast fell nine per cent to $1,805 per FEU.
