TAIWAN`s Evergreen has ordered ten 2,800-TEU class B-type ships from Japanese shipbuilder Imabari, after placing a similar order last month at CSBC back home.

All are bound for the intra-Asia trade as Evergreen believes the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) will remove trade barriers among Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand, reported New York`s Marine Log.

The first ship in CBC series is set to be delivered during the second half of 2017 with the completion of the CSBC series is scheduled for delivery by the first half of 2018. The first ship from Imabari is due in the first half of 2018.

Evergreen has also signed agreements with Shoei Kisen Kaisha, the ship owning arm of Imabari Shipbuilding Group, to charter five 14,000-TEUers to be delivered in 2017 and eleven 18,000 TEUers to be delivered in 2018 and 2019.
