KAZAKHSTAN is on the last lap of its long journey in joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO) after 20 years of negotiations, according to the official communique.

Kazakhstan`s accession package will now go to the WTO`s General Council for formal adoption after the longest accession process in the history of the trade organisation.

The former Russian province exports an estimated US$78 billion annually, roughly 38.25 per cent of its gross domestic product, with top export goods including oil and mineral fuels, iron and steel.

Currently, the United States ranks as Kazakhstan`s fifth largest import partner with an estimated $2 billion in imports.
