HONG KONG`s OOCL, the world`s 13th largest carrier, has announced a general rate increase (GRI) on all its eastbound north Europe-Asia services by US$200 per TEU from March 15.

The carrier explained the reason of the rate increase in a statement to its customers that the current rates are below the required levels which are "unsustainable for the long term", so they should be adjusted to "cover basic operating costs or transportation costs on our north Europe to Asia trade."
