CMA CGM ups Africa rates while MSC increases Adriatic-Red Sea rate in March

MARSEILLE based CMA CGM and Geneva`s MSC, the world two largest carriers after Maersk, have announced rate increases for a number of services starting March 1.

CMA CGM will raise rates US$250 per TEU for its sailings from India and the Middle East Gulf to east Africa (Mombasa and Dar Es Salam) effective March 1.


And for shipments from India and Pakistan to North Europe, Mediterranean, Baltic, Black Sea and North Africa, the rates will be increased $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU for dry and reefer cargo, starting March 1, reported American Shipper, adding that rates for north Europe-east coast South America services will increase EUR200 per TEU.


With effect from April 1, rates will go up $250 per TEU and $450 per FEU for dry and reefer cargo for shipments from east coast South America to north Europe, the eastern Mediterranean, the Baltic and the Black Sea.


And for sailings from east coast South America to the western Mediterranean, rates will increase $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU for dry and reefer cargo.


Additionally, MSC will raise rates $100 per TEU for its loops from west Mediterranean and Adriatic ports to the Red Sea effective March 1.
