US diesel prices slip US$0.66/gallon while crude increases $0.35/barrel

AVERAGE diesel prices dropped across the United States at US$3.82 per gallon, a drop of 6.6 cents, the lowest in six weeks but still up 6.1 cents on 12 weeks before in the reporting period up to December 19, said the US Energy Information Administration.

While diesel price dropped 29.6 cents from its year high it is still up 58 cents year on year with crude oil lurching upwards by 35 cents to $93.99 a barrel, according to the New York Mercantile Exchange.


Regionally, the Midwest saw the deepest decline at 8.3 cent decrease to $3.765 a gallon while east coast`s New England and Central Atlantic dropped below the $4 dollar mark for the first time in five weeks. California remained at or above $4 per gallon but still short of the average price high of the early summer at $4.12 a gallon.
