THE New World Alliance has cut capacity on the transpacific by dropping its PCE Service that links northeast Asia with Los Angeles and Oakland.
The PCE deployed six vessels in the 4,460-EU range, rotating through Dalian, Xingang, Qingdao, Yokohama, Los Angeles, Oakland, Yokohama, Busan and back to Dalian. Of these vessels, five were from APL and one from Hyundai Merchant Marine.
New World members MOL and Evergreen will now offers slots on the NWA`s PS5 service with the rotation of Shanghai, Busan, Los Angeles, Oakland, Yokohama, Busan, and Shanghai. This will deploy five ships from APL, the container shipping arm of Singapore`s Neptune Orient Lines.
Capacity on the transpacific has shrunk with smaller vessels and NWA`s suspension comes after the CKYH Alliance and the Hainan PO Shipping/TS Lines partnership, as well as CSAV has dropped loops and The Containership Company disappeared altogether.
