MAERSK Line, MSC and CMA CGM are adding a call at Shanghai`s Waigaoqiao terminal from August 20.

The service expansion is designed to complement the VSA Loop 2 (TP-8 / New Orient Express / Bohai), which already calls at Yangshan.

The service, the Transpacific VSA loop 1, branded by Maersk as `TP-2,` by MSC as `Eagle,` and by CMA CGM as `Yang Tse` will connect South and Central China with California.

The revised port rotation for the VSA 1 is Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Xiamen, Shanghai-Waigaoqiao, Ningbo, Long Beach, Oakland and back to Kaohsiung.

"The move appears to be a response to weak load factors on the transpacific trades," commented Alphaliner. The port rotation for the VSA 2 is: Dalian, Xingang, Qingdao, Shanghai-Yangshan, Los Angeles, Oakland and Dalian.
