CMA CGM, the world`s third largest container carrier, has paid US$374,400 fine violating the embargo action against Iran, Sudan and Cuba through 28 shipments to ports of the three countries between December 2004 and April 2008, said US Treasury Department`s Office of Foreign Assets Control.

In March, the Israeli Navy seized a CMA CGM ship carrying more than 50 tons of weapons from Iran, charging the vessel smuggling weapons to Hamas in the Gaza Strip, according to a report from Newark`s Journal of Commerce. But CMA CGM said it had been deceived by false documentation and was the victim in the case.
