APL, the container shipping arm of Singapore`s Neptune Orient Lines, will introduce "extra slow steaming" on two more transpacific loops operated in the NWA service, the SAX loop and PS-2 loop, reports AXS Alphaliner.
PS-2 loop combines an NWA Asia-US west coast run together with a joint Asia-Mexico service run by APL and Hapag-Lloyd under the banner AME/MAX in which two agreements will deploy the same ships.
Both the SAX and PS-2 will now be run over seven weeks instead of six with the addition of a seventh ship on each loop. For the SAX, the extra ships willnot be added immediately as one sailing will be skipped in February during Chinese New Year.
Eastbound transits on SAX and PS-2 services will be lengthened two days. This is in addition to APL`s recent decision to introduce extra slow steaming on two other transpacific loops (PS-1 and PCE). But, Alphaliner notes, this was done by applying shorter rotations rather than extending them.
