CHINA`s rail freight volume fell 2.6 per cent to 2.46 billion tonnes in the first three quarters, and down 2.9 per cent compared in the first eight months year on year, reports Xinhua.
China`s rail freight performance improved month to month as stimulus funds kicked in. Rail volume declined 6.3 per cent over last year`s first quarter, and was down four per cent in the first half year and off 2.9 per cent in the first eight months.
The country`s rail freight turnover dropped 3.3 per cent in the first three quarters, while its passenger turnover of railway grew two per cent to 619.36 billion people-kilometre.
