Qingdao port containerises ore transportation

PORT of Qingdao has started a new way for ore transportation using containers, Xinhua reported.
The new way, said to be able to reduce at least 20 per cent`s cost for shippers, is now in smooth operation with a weekly loading volume of over 150 TEU, said the report without specifying what ore was being moved.
Now the ore shipped via the port will be loaded into containers and transported by rail from and to hinterland cities in Henan, Shaanxi, Xian, Gansu and Ningxia.
According to a person from Qingdao Qianwan Container Terminal (QQCT), the new mode is a measure taken by the port to secure container throughput growth.
