CMA CGM Group has announced freight rate increases for US exports on the transpacific by US$150 per TEU and US$300 per FEU out of Houston and Mobile Gulf ports and on the transatlantic to north Europe and western Med by $240 per TEU and $300 per FEU from September 1.
This mirrors action from other ocean carriers attempting "rate restorations" worldwide. "We have implemented a rate restoration to ensure the reliability our customers have come to expect, sustain of our services and maintain viable presence long term," said CMA CGM North America vice president Jean-Philippe Thenoz.
More modest increases of $25 per TEU and $50 per FEU will apply for transpacific cargo out of US east coast and west coast ports. For transpacific cargo from inland origins, the increase will be $50 per TEU and $100 per FEU.
For transatlantic increases will apply to cargo to north Europe and the western Mediterranean.
