KOREA`s Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) said will launch a new loop between Korea, China and the west coast of North America this month, reports American Shipper.

The Hyundai New Start (HNS) service will deploy five HMM vessels, three 3,800-TEU ships and one 6,000-TEUer and another of 4,500 TEU.

The launching of the NHS follows the decision by HMM to deploy extraloaders in the immediate aftermath of the Hanjin bankruptcy to help Korean shippers move cargo to North America.

HMM said the "HNS service will provide customers with the industry`s fastest transit time of nine days from Busan to Los Angeles and a greater port coverage, while still maintaining network stability."

The rotation will be Los Angeles, Busan, Shanghai, Gwangyang, Busan and back to Los Angeles, with additional included as demand dictates.
