Range of Asia-N Europe/Med/Black Sea rate increases from CMA CGM

FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM will levy rate increases on cargo from north Europe to Asia from October 1 as well as a range of other charges later this week.

Termed a "rate restoration programme" the increases will be US$500 per TEU from Germany and France, $550 per FEU and $2,000 per reefer box. 

From Belgium and Netherlands, the increase will be $400 per TEU and FEU. It will be $2,000 for reefer boxes regardless of size. From the UK the increase will be $300 per TEU and FEU and $2,000 per reefer regardless of size. 

CMA CGM reminds Asia-Red Sea shippers of the September 15 increase of $200 per TEU from all Asian ports (excluding Japan) but including Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Ain Sokhna (Egypt), Aqaba (Jordan), Djibouti, Port Sudan (Sudan), Aden and Hodeidah (Yemen).

The Marseilles company also announced freight all kinds (FAK) rates to be exacted on September 15 on cargo from all main Asian ports to all main North African ports. 

Specifically, for Algerian ports the charge will be $1,650 per TEU, $3,100 per FEU, $3,175 per FEU high cube, with a $100 port congestion surcharge for cargo landed at Bejaia. The charge to Tunisian ports will be $1,550 per TEU, $2,900 per FEU and $2,975 per FEU high cube with a $125 per TEU port congestion surcharge for cargo landed at Rades.

For cargo landed at Libya the charge will be $1,600 per TEU, $3,000 per FEU and $3,075 per FEU high cube. For cargo bound for Morocco, the tariff will be $1,400 per TEU, $2,600 per FEU and $2,675 per FEU high cube.

For cargo landed in west Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and east Med ports, the tariff will be $1,100 per TEU, $2,000 per FEU, $2,050 per FEU high cube and FEU reefer. To Syria, the charge will be EUR1,100 (US$1,235) per TEU, EUR2,000 per FEU and EUR2,050 per FEU high cubed and FEU reefer.
