MAERSK Line will introduce the new TP1 service between Asia and the US west coast to complement existing loops on the transpacific with the first sailing September 15.

"We are responding to increased demand in the transpacific. With supply chains disrupted, many customers are approaching us for transport solutions for their cargo," said Maersk east-west network chief Klaus Rud Sejling, without mentioning the absence of the ships of the recently bankrupted Hanjin line, which these "extra loaders" will help replace.

Maersk`s TP1 service will be calling Yantian, Shanghai, Busan and Los Angeles/Long Beach. It will have six vessels with a capacity of 4,000 TEU per week deployed. The TP1 service will be part of the 2M network.
