MAERSK Group, the Danish transport and energy conglomerate, is considering splitting itself into a transport and energy divisions, reports the Copenhagen newspaper Berlingske.

Contacted by Bloomberg News, a Maersk spokeswoman would only say it was one of several options being considered in its current strategic review, the result of which will be announced before October.

The Berlingske newspaper said a new "Maersk Transport" company would include the Maersk Line, APM Terminals, Maersk Tankers, Damco and Svitzer divisions.

"Maersk Energy" would include Maersk Oil, Maersk Drilling and Maersk Supply Service, Berlingske said. The newspaper cited unidentified people that it said are close to the talks.
