A-E rate rises 58pc to US$1,125/TEU, up 51pc to Med, 2pc to USWC

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to Northern Europe jumped 58 per cent to US$1,125 per TEU in the week ending Friday, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI), Reuters reported. 

The Asia-Mediterranean component of the SCFI increased 51 per cent to US$1,004 per TEU. 

Asia to the US west coast up two per cent week-over-week to $1,322 per FEU while those to the east coast up 12 per cent to $1,953 per FEU.
