CMA CGM applies new terminal handling charges in Togo and Benin ports

NEW terminal handling charges will be applied to West African ports in Togo and Benin, French shipping giant CMA CGM has announced.

"Further to news of July 7 concerning the implementation of a new Terminal Handling Charge (THC) in Togo, CMA CGM informs that notwithstanding the significant operational charges to operate in Lome and in order to take into account their customers` request, they have decided to revise the quantum for the reefer containers at the same level as the dry containers," said the CMA CGM release.

"As from August 15, THC will be applicable in addition to the ocean freight for import and export cargo and payable at Lome as follows: Dry and reefer containers: EUR100 (US$110) per TEU and EUR150 per FEU. Special containers will be charged EUR150 per TEU and EUR285 per FEU.

In Cotonou, Benin, CMA CGM announced that notwithstanding the significant operational charges to operate in Cotonou and in order to take into account their valuable customers` request, they have decided to revise the quantum for the reefer containers at the same level as the dry containers.

As from August 15, THC will be applicable in addition to the ocean freight for import and export cargo and payable at Cotonou as follows: Dry and reefer containers: EUR95 per TEU and EUR135 per FEU. Special containers: EUR145 per TEU and EUR205 per FEU.
