HK May off 9.1pc to 1.64 million TEU, S'pore up 1.9pc to 2.67 million TEU

FIGURES from the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board showed the port handled 1.64 million TEU in May, representing a year-on-year decrease of 9.1 per cent from 1.8 million TEU in May last year. 

Singapore`s Maritime and Port Authority reported a 1.9pc slight increase in container movement in May, having handled 2.67 million TEU compared to 2.62 million TEU in May last year. 

Meanwhile Shanghai, the world`s biggest container port, decreased throughput 2.2 per cent to 3.09 million TEU in May year on year, according to the Shanghai International Port (Group) Co (SIPG).
