SHIPOWNER Seaspan is to receive the first of five 14,000-TEU vessels from Taiwanese shipbuilder, CSBC Corp in the first quarter.

The remaining four box ships are due for delivery in April, July, September and December, respectively, reported Seatrade Global.

Hong Kong-administered, but Vancouver-headquartered Seaspan is to time charter the vessels to Taiwan`s Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp.

It was earlier reported that CSBC may use China`s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding facilities to build certain sections of the 14,000-TEU mega ships owing to a strategic cooperation agreement between the two shipyards.
