THE world`s largest containership, the 19,224-TEU MSC Maya, one of Mediterranean Shipping Company`s Oscar-class ships, has successfully called at DP World`s box terminal in the UK port of Southampton.

Measuring 395 metres in length and 59 metres in width, the ship is deployed on the Maersk/MSC 2M alliance`s Swan/AE2 service route, sailing between Asia and North Europe.

The MSC Maya follows the deliveries of sister ships MSC Oscar, MSC Oliver and MSC Zoe built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in Geoje, South Korea. The company said a total of nineteen 19,000+ TEU ships have been ordered under its current newbuild programme.
