MOL ups Asia-west coast South America rate US$750/TEU on January 15

JAPANESE shipping giant MOL will levy a rate increase of US$750 per TEU on all cargo from Asia - excluding Malaysia and India - to Mexico and west coast of South America from January 15.

The company characterised the increased a "general rate restoration", saying it would charge $1,500 more for an FEU and on 40-footer high cube boxes. The same rates apply to dry and reefer cargo.

"Taking this opportunity, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for your continued support and understanding," said the company statement, adding that further information should be sought at the local customer service level.
