THE Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has announced that it has made steady progress with the number of steps taken to expedite traffic and decrease Canal Waters Time (CWT).

The ACP said the steps taken included postponing non-critical maintenance work, modifying bookings and assigning additional operations personnel to cope with.

The current wait time for transiting ships has been reduced by 60 per cent from its high and is now four days or less. Moreover, the number of ships awaiting transit has been cut by 40 per cent from its recent high in October.

THE ACP said it will continue to address this issue in order to provide the efficient and reliable service that customers have come to expect from the Panama Canal.
