THE Panama Canal`s west lane of Pedro Miguel Locks will be out of service for gate repairs and maintenance on the conductor slots and valves from today until the end of the month, reports GAC Hot Port News.

Meanwhile, there will be intermittent east lanes stoppages of both Miraflores and Gatun Locks for repairs on the conductor slots and other maintenance work, according to Panama Canal Authority Advisory to Shipping No A-29-2015.

As a result, and in accordance with the rules governing the Transit Reservation System, Condition 2 will be in effect from Tuesday September 22 until Wednesday September 30.

"Just-in-Time (JIT) transit slots available for supers will be reduced during this period to one for each direction; whereas the JIT slots for regular vessels transiting without restrictions will remain at one for each direction," said the advisory.

"The booking slot available through the auction process, as well as the slots available for regular vessels less than 300 feet in LOA, will continue to be offered during this period," it said.
