Despite the odd names, given the Dutch location, local port authorities will build the Yukon Harbour on the north side of the Yangtze Canal between the Euromax Container Terminal in the Port of Rotterdam.

It will be 255 metres long and 150 metres wide with a depth of 7.5 metres. The project will be executed by consortium Hakkers Van Oord and was commissioned by the Port of Rotterdam Authority, reported American Shipper.

In addition, Gate terminal will open a new LNG and breakbulk terminal at the Yukon Harbour next year, which will allow for liquefied natural gas to be loaded onto bunker boats and smaller LNG-tankers. The terminal will have a maximum capacity of 280 berthing slots a year, the terminal operator said in a statement.

Construction at the terminal began in March and the facility is expected to become operational by the summer of 2016.
