CMA CGM ups Asia-Europe rate US$950/TEU - $500/TEU to West Africa

FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM will increase rates US$950 per TEU on Asia-Europe services from Japan, south east Asia and Bangladesh to all northern European ports including the UK and the full range from Portugal to Russia from September 1.

The increase will also apply to shipments from Asia to West Med, East Med, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa, except for services to Syria, which will see an increase of EUR850 per TEU (US$1,328).

CMA CGM is also applying a US$500 per TEU increase from all Asian ports to West Africa, claiming that the prevailing container freight rates had "reached an unsustainable level".
