HARBIN customs have developed a fast track "green channel" clearance for agricultural produce exported to Hong Kong, Xinhua reports.

The move was in line with northeastern province Heilongjiang`s plan to promote its farm produce in the Hong Kong market.

Harbin customs will introduce greater flexibility in their working hours and will work longer to ensure agricultural produce can be cleared the same day. They will also accept appointment for 24-hour clearance service to ensure nothing is stranded.

The customs will also send a specialist to follow up the clearance progress of agricultural exports to Hong Kong, so that if any problem occurs it will be solved immediately.

Harbin customs also send staff to the spot of packaging of such products. The packaging will be done under the supervision of the customs staff and be sealed and released immediately, hence saving cost for the shippers.

In the first quarter, Heilongjiang province held series of promotional campaign for its agricultural products in Hong Kong and open a flagship store there with plans to set up 100 chain stores in Hong Kong
