Spot freight rates to send an 80,000 mt crude cargo from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean were assessed Worldscale 25 points lower at w135 Monday on softer sentiment and rising tonnage.

Shipping sources pegged freight rates on the route in the w120-135 range late Monday afternoon with at least one 85,000 mt Aframax reported on subjects to load crude at w120 levels.

"There hasn`t been a lot of activity in the Mediterranean today, there are a lot of early ships but no cargoes to load and rates are falling as a result", said one shipbroker.

"The tonnage list is very long in the Black Sea and Mediterranean at the moment", said another shipbroker.

The Phoenix Ambition was reported to have gone on subjects to ST Shipping at Worldscale 120 for a Black Sea-Mediterranean route loading 85,000 mt crude on January 20. The shipowner Phoenix Tankers was not immediately available for comment.
