EVERGREEN Line has unveiled plans to commence its new Straits-Yangon (Myanmar) service (SYS) from late August in response to increasing market demand for feeder space.

The Taiwanese shipping line will exchange container slots with Advance Container Lines (ACL) on its Yangon routes to increase the frequency of feeder connections.

Evergreen Line will deploy the 1,164-TEU `Ever Able` on the SYS service. The first sailing is scheduled to depart from Singapore on August 21, which serves the port rotation of Singapore, Yangon, Port Klang, Singapore. The transit time is about 11-12 days.

Evergreen will also engage in slot exchanges with ACL on its Yangon routes (YGS) that offer a transit time of about 10-12 days.

The port rotation for the YGS1 is: Singapore, Yangon, Port Klang, Singapore. On the YGS2, the port rotation is: Singapore, Yangon, Singapore.

According to Evergreen Line, Myanmar has the advantage of reasonably priced labour and abundant natural resources. In addition, recent political and economic reforms have attracted significant amounts of foreign investment to the country, enhancing its potential for long-term economic growth. The shipping line said it will continue to monitor market developments and trends.
