Asia-Europe rates decline 5.5pc, but Asia-US west coast rates up 0.4pc

ASIA-Europe freight rates as of November 4 remained at the downward trend, dropping 5.5 per cent from the previous week to US$613 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).

The rates between Shanghai and the Mediterranean fell 5.8 per cent to $863 per TEU.


But the rates for Asia-US west coast trade continued last week`s slight rise to grow 0.4 per cent to $1,500 per FEU, while the rates for Asia-US east coast trade was down 2.6 per cent from last week to $2,794 per FEU.


The SCFI for November 4 was down 1.4 per cent to 919.44 points from a week ago.
