MAERSK`s newly launched service, Daily Maersk, which promises absolute reliability on the Asia-North Europe trade lane, has shown a significant increase in bookings in the six weeks since the new service was announced on September 12, the company said

"Since the announcement of Daily Maersk, there has been a steady and significant increase in the bookings of cargo in the Daily Maersk corridors. We are extremely happy to see the Daily Maersk corridors growing so quickly," said project leader Ole Pradsgaard.

The service was launched on October 24 and the final three weeks of testing prior to this commercial launch have firmly substantiated the carrier`s promise of absolute reliability, as more customers than usual booked on Daily Maersk corridors, and 99 per cent of all cargo was delivered on time.

Served by 70 x 8,500- to 15,000-TEU vessels, totalling 57,000 TEU weekly, the service offers a daily connection between four ports in Asia (Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian and Tanjung Pelepas) and three ports in Europe (Felixstowe, Rotterdam and Bremerhaven).

According to the conditions of the new service the company will pay US$100 per container if cargo availability is delayed by one to three days. If delayed by four days or more, Maersk Line will pay back $300 per container.

The company said the cargo that will be moved on the service amounts to more than 20 per cent of the shipping line`s combined volume on the Asia-North Europe trade lane, and accounts for five per cent of its global volume.
