CHINA`S Ministry of Commerce and National Development and Reform Commission have worked out a plan for commercial logistics development for the next five years that aims to raise the percentage of cold chain logistics for fruit and vegetables to 20 per cent, meat by 30 per cent and aqua products 36 per cent by 2015.

China has long been suffering from severe loss during the transport of farm produce, resulting in both high prices and great wastage, Xinhua`s report said.

According to the plan, China will build up an effective and green modern commercial logistics service network that covers urban and rural areas, domestic and international markets, and will also support the growth of internationally competitive logistics operators over the next five years.

The Ministry of Commerce will also encourage professionalisation and innovation of commercial logistics services, and increase the application of technology.
