COSCO will start participating in the SJX service offered by Hanjin Shipping and Wan Hai Lines by adding an extra ship on the service, the 5,089-TEU Tian Sheng He, which is to depart Port Kelang April 16.

The SJX rotation is Port Kelang, Singapore, Cai Mep, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Yantian, Osaka, Tokyo, Long Beach, Oakland, Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong and back to Port Kelang.

The Chinese shipping line already purchases container slots on the service that Hanjin Shipping started in June 2009 with six 4,000-TEU ships, reports Alphaliner.

This means that from April, Hanjin will operate four of the vessels on the SJX service, and Wan Hai Lines and Cosco will provide one ship each. Yang Ming will continue to purchase slots on the service.
