SINGAPORE`s container shipping and logistics group NOL is donating US$100,000 to the Japanese Red Cross Society, to aid victims of the massive earthquake and tsunami that devastated parts of Japan earlier this month.

NOL said it will also match its employees` contributions to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

"Like everyone, we are saddened by the destruction and loss of life witnessed in Japan," said CEO Ron Widdows. "On behalf of our concerned employees, we want to contribute to recovery."

The company added that its employees at its Tokyo office are all safe and accounted for, while the marine terminals operated by its container shipping line APL at the ports of Kobe and Yokohama are open for business.
