K` Line, HMM, NYK, PIL to add second Asia-ECSA service

JAPANESE shipping giant "K" Line has announced that a new loop to its weekly Asia to east coast of South America service (AESA-1) that it jointly runs with Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), NYK Line and Pacific International Lines (PIL), to meet growing demand for South American services.

The new loop that the Japanese shipping line calls AESA-2 will be a twice weekly service launched from the end of March and provided by the same four ocean liners.


The port rotation for the new AESA-2 loop is: Ningbo, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Singapore, Port Kelang, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Vitoria (Brazil), Navegantes, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Singapore, Hong Kong, and back to Ningbo.


A report by UK`s Transport Intelligence said 3,000-TEU vessels will be deployed on the new loop which will offer a transit time of 70 days on a round trip.


It also said that from mid-March the existing AESA-1 service will expand its port rotation by calling at Busan to provide a "direct express link between Korea and the east coast of South America."


The revamped port rotation for the AESA-1 that uses 4,250-TEU ships on a 77 round trip voyage will be: Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Shekou, Singapore, Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Navegantes, Paranagua, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Busan.
