CHILE`s Compania Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV) and China Shipping Container Line (CSCL) have joined in providing all-water Far East-US east coast service via Panama, deploying nine ships in the 4,200-TEU range.
CSCL ships will supply the AMEX 2 loop while the old AMEX string will be operated by CSAV vessels with the first CSAV sailing scheduled for March 21 from Shanghai.
Alphaliner notes that the Lazaro Cardenas calls in both directions allow CSAV to cover the Mexican markets as well as providing additional China-west coast South America opportunities through transshipments.
The AMEX 2 rotation is Shanghai, Xiamen, Shenzhen-Yantian, Hong Kong, Lazaro Cardenas, NY-NJ, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami, Lazaro Cardenas and back to Shanghai while the old AMEX will rotate through Busan, Xingang, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Port Everglades, Charleston, New York/New Jersey, Savannah, Kingston, Manzanillo, and Busan.
