SHIPPING to and from strife-torn Egypt is returning to normal, according to a Maersk customer advisory, which said the situation had improved "substantially" with all ports working, though "not yet back to the usual levels" at Port Said.

The carrier also said the berth and yard congestion had "loosened" at Damietta and Alexandria. It also said transit of the Suez Canal had not been affected and there were no restrictions in booking with Maersk to and from Egypt.

But the Danish shipping giant also said cargo had been delayed at transhipment points because of lingering congestion, reported London`s Containerisation International.
