QUEENLAND`s great floods, which closed the Port of Brisbane, have ebbed and all berths, except those at Hamilton Reach, have reopened, say port authorities.

"Many restrictions including most night transits have now been lifted, however each vessel will be assessed by the harbour master before passage is arranged," said a port authority notice.

There were "varying levels of siltation in the port channels and berth pockets", but said that it was "working on a dredging plan to clear these areas as soon as possible", said the notice.

But otherwise, all channels, swing basins and berth pockets were once again operational and functioning with conditions.

"Whilst all forward scheduled vessels should be able to access the port, we are working to return the port to design standard as a priority to facilitate forward planning for shipping lines and customers," said the authority.
